Free legal aid is the provision of free legal services in civil and criminal matters to poor and marginalized people who cannot afford to pay for a lawyer to conduct a case or legal proceeding before a court, tribunal or authority. The Legal Services Authority creates legal awareness, legal aid and dispute resolution through out-of-court settlement before Lok adalath and mediation are the main objectives and functions of the Authority.
